Rewards are powerful.
We live in Atlanta where Chick-Fil-A is a way of life. One of life’s little joys is when a reward for a free shake or small waffle fries is earned. These small rewards are big motivators to keep going.
The coffee shop card is another version of this experience. Remember when you got a hole punched for each cup purchased, and when you bought 10 cups then the 11th was free? What you might have noticed is that when they gave you the fresh new card, they likely punched the first 2 cups “free.”
Psychologists have studied motivation and observed that when we are at least 20% of the way toward a goal, we are far more likely to keep going than when we are not yet 20% of the way there. When we get the satisfaction of 2 out of the 10 holes punched that feels way better than a card with no holes punched.
Tip 14: Punch Your 20%.
This is your 2 holes punched moment in your 90-Day Goal Together! You did it. Celebrate! You are no longer at the beginning. Slap yourself on the back because you started from the bottom on day one with no holes punched, no reward points in the app.
But here you are completing your second week, 14 days of progress toward your 90-Day Goal. This is huge! Be good to yourself and celebrate all you have accomplished. Rest well and get ready to attack it with renewed confidence as we push forward into week 3 a little more caffeinated on our way to a free latte, a little closer to a free box of Chicken Minis, and a little more excited for seeing the finish line together.
