Welcome to week four! This week we are going to focus on habits. We often think of habits as “bad habits,” such as biting our fingernails or smoking cigarettes. This week we are going to look at the positive side of habits. Charles Duhigg is a recognized expert in the psychology of habits, and he titled his book The Power of Habit.
Habits are powerful and this week we will look at how building the right habits in your life will help you reach your 90-Day Goal.
Let’s begin with the Keystone Habit. Keystone habits are defined by Charles Duhigg as “small changes or habits that people introduce into their routines that unintentionally carry over into other aspects of their lives.”
In other words, keystone habits lead to the development of other good habits. When practiced intentionally, they can start a chain effect in your life that moves you forward to crushing your goal. These are habits that you can incorporate into your daily life that will simply make it easier to succeed in other areas of your life as well.
Tip 22: Keystone Habit is the Key.
At Younique, the Keystone Habit we design into our practice is the weekly reflection. This 15-minute stand-up meeting with yourself creates space to assess progress on your 90-Day Goal and what might need to change or adjust in order to stay on track.
The weekly reflection practice is a small practice. It only takes fifteen minutes once a week. It doesn’t require anyone else but you. You are reviewing your life plan and deciding if anything else needs to change in the coming week. This small habit leads to healthy rhythms, renewed focus, and the satisfaction of staying on target.
Keystone habits create a domino effect. This weekly reflection has the power to help you build stronger, healthier habits that will generate energy and productivity in your life.
