Why doesn’t everyone appreciate how hard I am working?
I have said this many times and I am sure you have as well. You are working towards a 90-Day Goal because you have the desire to make a contribution, make meaningful progress toward a long-term goal, and increase value in your life one way or another.
This significant investment in your life, dedicating yourself toward a small but significant goal, is a big step and already sets you apart from the vast majority of people around you.
Sometimes people sit up and take notice of your effort and hard work! But even when they do, it is rare that someone is going to step up and provide you an easy and risk free way to increase value in your life. While we might have one of those heroes or mentors in our story, most of our working and adult lives goes months or years without such a champion.
Increasing value, therefore, is up to you. Take responsibility for how you want to grow and work a plan to make it happen. You are already on your way as you crush your 90-Day Goal.
Way to go! Keep at it knowing that you are owning this important essential of life design, which is taking the initiative to move your life forward.
Day 33: Take Responsibility.
Will, in his book The Clarity Spiral, demonstrates this truth by highlighting the parable of the talents (Matt. 25:14-30). In the story, the master expects a return on the gifts he gave to each worker.
The assumption of the parables is that each person will use their creativity and training to increase value. The master doesn’t give a list of instructions and demands that the workers follow the rules. Rather, the master frees each person to increase value according to their unique vision and abilities.
God asks you to take responsibility for what he has entrusted to you and to increase its value. Use your 90-Day Goal to move you forward, increasing the value of your work and thereby increasing value to those around you.
