90-Day Goal: Day 58: Remember Rest

This week we are revisiting the “remember” commands of the Bible. We are leaning into the promises of God as we work toward our 90-Day Goal together. Where do you feel alive and confident and when do you need to take a step back and allow God to acknowledge you and bless you?

Today we pull out the granddaddy of “remember” commands—remember the sabbath day and keep it holy. This is the fourth of the ten commandments, a cornerstone of a life with God.

Tip 58: Remember Rest.

We have mixed feelings about remembering the sabbath. On the one hand we relish a day to rest. We welcome a day to take a break from the grind and focus on worship, play, rest. On the other hand this command makes us feel uncomfortable and out of control.

Some of us embrace a sabbath day, some of us ignore it, and others of us actively resist it. Regardless of your 90-Day Goal, we all need rest.

God created us to work out of our rest. Each day God creates then he rests and then creates again. The day begins at sundown, at night. The day begins with rest and then we wake and continue our day when we work out of our rest.

In our American culture rest is portrayed a failure, laziness, or missed opportunity. But God designed rest to be a blessing, fuel for the journey, and the most important work of all. Rest is wildly productive in addition to being faithful.

Work hard and rest well. A key to crushing your 90-Day Goal with grace and grit is to own your rest. Rest is fuel. Use it well to crush your 90-Day Goal Together.

Please send me your questions, challenges, and suggestions as we continue in the 90-Day Goal Together. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing the journey with you.
