This week we are streaming our way to the finish line of our 90-Day Goal. We are streaming the great spiritual traditions of the church as described by Richard Foster in his book Streams of Living Water. We all have different personalities and grew up being exposed or trained in one or more of these traditions. Likely we are most comfortable in one or two while others are less familiar. As you work your life design, one or more of these traditions may awaken something new in you.
Today we are focusing on compassion. Jesus exhibited great compassion to those who were shunned, marginalized, and grieving. Compassion and acts of mercy are central to the Christian life and who we are as followers of the Way. Maybe your 90-Day Goal is connected to providing care or service to someone in your family or circle of relationships who needs you right now.
Tip 82: Share Shalom.
This spiritual stream brings care for the other and pursuit of justice. A life of compassion is motivated by a heart that pursues God’s heart for the world. We are change agents that drive reconciliation not only in our lives but also in our cities and communities. We embrace the possibility of change because we have seen God make things news.
In what ways does your 90-Day Goal seek the welfare of the city? How are you participating, directly or indirectly, in creating harmony and wholeness by living out your call? Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace that the compassionate life fosters and shares. Shalom is about wholeness and goodness that is made more possible as we live on mission and pursue God’s call on our lives. Share Shalom as you crush your 90-Day Goal, creating more peace and wholeness than when you began.
Please send me your questions, challenges, and suggestions as we continue in the 90-Day Goal Together. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing the journey with you.
